John Silvester Associates has been commissioned by Waverley Borough Council to facilitate two workshops with local community stakeholders to assist in the setting of new housing targets following the scrapping of the South East Plan.

Matthew Evans, Head of Planning Services at Waverley Borough Council said “the Government has recently removed nationally and regionally imposed house building targets; Waverley are now allowed to work with their communities to further understand how many homes should be built in their area. As an experienced planning consultant John Silvester was able to help us successfully deliver Stakeholder Events in relation to our consultation by acting as an independent facilitator.”

Waverley Borough Council carried out a four-week consultation as part of the LDF process to inform a decision on the number of houses that should be built in the area in the next 15 years and beyond.

Silvester commented “it is important that planning authorities involve community stakeholders in developing evidence-based house building targets as part of the new localism agenda. Local people welcomed the opportunity to be more directly involved in planning the future of their area.”
